This year I started tracking Macros!

For those of you that don’t know what that means; instead of counting calories you count your macronutrients. Macronutrients are the nutrients we need in larger quantities that provide us with energy: in other words, fat, protein and carbohydrates. Micronutrients are mostly vitamins and minerals, and are equally important but consumed in very small amounts. A scale is needed to measure the food by weight (grams or ounces) then you track those numbers. I will be making a detailed post about this in another post.

When I started I had a small kitchen scale that we had bought when Josh started smoking meat to weigh the cuts of meat before cooking to know how long they needed to smoke for. It wasn’t great but it was somewhere to start! As I got more into the macro counting I knew I needed a better option. I wanted a scale that was easy to use, could zero it out with a bowl on it and could be measured by ounces and grams. So I started searching and found this KitchenAid one.

Overview

I really like that it has two different weighing platforms, you can use at the same time.

Also, works great to zero the weight of any container before adding food.

Comes with 3 AAA batteries, included. Scale can be powered off of will auto shut-off after a 3 minutes.

Easy to wipe clean with a damp cloth and dry. Hand wash only, NOT dishwasher safe.

Made of stainless steel surfaces wipe up quickly and will not stain or retain food odors.

Would I recommend this scale:

Yes! I am very happy with my experience using this food scale. I do use it every day multiple times. I have not had any issues with it. When using my scale I switch back and forth between the grams and the ounces depending on what I am measuring and it is so easy! Great for baking you can have your bowl right on the scale and pour into when measuring, zeroing out scale before you start. Very easy to clean, I really don’t know what I would do without it now!

The only thing some people might not like is that it is not dishwasher safe, but I hand wash everything anyways so no biggy to me.

Head on over to Amazon.com and snag it while its still on sale!
