Health Benefits of a Balanced Life

The more balanced your life is the healthier you will be or vise versa, the healthier you are the more balanced your life will become. They go hand in hand.

A negative mind will never give you a happy life.

A positive mindset is a game changer! Optimistic thinking helps with stress management and can even improve not only your mental health but your over all well-being. Stress can effect more than most people know, not just your attitude but your body can feel run down and tired causing stomach or head aches (and more) if you let it control you. Challenging situations and obstacles are a part of life that can’t always be controlled but you do have a choice every day how you handle those situations. If you choose to see the upside you will feel better, more relaxed and able to continue on with your day.

Ideas how to start to think positive thoughts:

-Focus on the good things/Start every day on a positive note.

-Practice gratitude/Keep a gratitude journal.

-Open yourself up to humor and laughter.

-Spend time with positive people, if someone around you is always causing drama then limit your time with them.

-Practice positive self-talk, every day.

-Identify your areas of negativity and make a plan to improve them.

-It’s also important to take some time out from a busy day to enjoy activities and unwind by reading or meditating.

      Your health is your wealth.

You could have all the money in the world for anything you could want or need but if you aren’t healthy can you really enjoy it? How many times do you hear of someone you know talking about big plans to travel when they retire or spend time doing their hobbies but once its actually time to retire then something happens with their health and they can’t do the things they wanted to! Start taking care of yourself now, not tomorrow, don’t wait till Monday or next month, or the new year, do it now!

In order to achieve a balanced lifestyle, you must make sure you are healthy. Your body needs plenty of rest, exercise and healthy food to operate at its best level!

-To let your body rest and recover it is important to get at least 8 hours of solid sleep per night.

-Get moving; aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate physical activity every day. If you want to lose weight, maintain weight loss or meet specific fitness goals, you may need to exercise more.

-Reducing sitting time is important because the more hours you sit each day, the higher your risk of metabolic problems.

      You are what you eat.

-A balanced diet is essential and more beneficial than a low-fat or low-carbohydrate diet for most people to maintain.

That is because it supplies the fuel your body needs to work effectively. Without balanced nutrition, your body is more prone to illnesses such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. Eating a variety of foods and consuming less salt, sugars, and saturated fats are essential to ensure your body functions at its best.

-Your body needs these three main macro nutrients:

      1. Protein

      2. Carbohydrates

      3. Fat

They are the nutrients you use in the largest amounts. “Macronutrients are the nutritive components of food that the body needs for energy and to maintain the body’s structure and systems,” says MD Anderson Wellness Dietitian Lindsey Wohlford.

-Eating enough protein, the right amount of carbs and not too much fat is the perfect balance to a healthy happy gut.

-Eating more plants and whole foods, less sugar, and less processed foods from a box.

Making time for all the things…

-We have to work but leave it at work, don’t bring it home. There is a time and place, it is OK to vent or make a list for the next day but you don’t want to spend too much time distracted from work so that you miss out on life.

-Family and/or friends. We need them, we love them, and they need our time and attention too! Without our support team we might go crazy (or is that just me?). That being said it goes both ways, make sure to be available to listen and help them in return.

-Don’t forget to make time for you, I think women especially forget how important this is! If give and do for others all day every day you will empty the tank. If/when tank runs out you won’t have anything left to give. Take time to do what makes you feel good, calm and happy.

      Find you balance

We have talked about different ways to balance your life and in doing so you will be living a healthier life. Find a balanced diet that works for you, seperate work from home, set time aside for self care and time with friends and family. If you can do these things in your life you will decress the stress level which will increse your energy and cause minimal havic on your body and overall health.

As always, comment and questions are welcome.
